Adirondacks Matchbox Birdhouse

A little birdie told me it was time for the Adirondacks Club Scrap Blog Hop. (If you'd like to start at the beginning of the Club Scrap Hop click HERE.)

Last month, Tricia found a Pin of a matchbox birdhouse and knew it was right up my alley. I'm so glad she did! The Adirondacks collection was the perfect kit for my version.

Let's take a little tour of the 2x3.5" birdhouse.

The top slides off, as matchbox covers do.

To begin, create the "tray" of the matchbox with mat board walls and a base adhered with CS® Bookbinding Glue.

Wrap the base with the text weight 8.5x11" Kraft Print from the Adirondacks Club Stamp collection.

Create a house shape with additional mat boards glued together.

After riding a wave of inspiration, I ended up with a pamphlet stitched book on the roof line, a miniature birdwatching journal, and a tiny mason jar filled with flowers.

Stamp the mason jar and "jar of hugs" sentiment from the Adirondacks Greeting unmounted sheet.

You may recognize the wooden bird from Club Scrap's Cherry Blossoms collection. Shade the bird with a foam ink applicator with Topaz and Lagoon inks. Adhere the bird to the front edge of the tray with Bookbinding Glue. Line the bottom of the tray with the burlap from the Greetings to Go kit.

Stitch torn dictionary pages into the pamphlet-stitched book on the roof.

Don't forget to glue four round beads to the base.

The best thing about this tiny birdhouse is that the rent is cheep!
