A closer look at the special edition collections from the Club Scrap Retreat!

Club Scrap's 2017 Retreat season wrapped up this month and I am thrilled to share some of my creations made with the Special Edition Collections.

What A Ride Collection

Let me take you on a tour of some of the layouts and cards I created with one of the 2017 Retreat special edition collections. These are the layouts you can make with the kit when following the assembly instructions . . .

Check out the fun layout I created with the papers from the collection.

Rubber Stamps

Below is a set of simple yet fun greeting cards created with the What A Ride Stamps.

Sweet Tooth Collection

The prints from this collection were absolutely the perfect match for photos taken at Marilee's "Sweet Sixteen" birthday party!

And here are Tricia's totally "sa-weet" layouts.

Masquerade Collection

I created this color blocked layout featuring a black and white photo from last year's Retreat.

Once again, here are the layouts you can make if you simply follow the instructions included in the kit.

I just love this quote. It's part of the Masquerade Collection and is something I need to remember!

I loved creating cards, layouts, and projects for this year's Retreat! Visit the Retreat "Pro Shop" to stock up on these collections while supplies last!

Crewel & Unusual Blog Hop

Welcome, Club Scrap Blog Hoppers!

Sometimes I get so wrapped up in making other projects that I neglect my poor scrapbook. So, for today's Blog Hop, I've put together a 12x12 scrapbook page using the Crewel & Unusual Collection.

The wooden Word Expressions happen to be one of my favorite goodies from this kit, so I used them a lot on this page. They compliment the paper and photo, while the Cutaparts and Heart Brads pull it all together.

Marilee is now too busy for orchestra at school so it's fun to get a few pics of her playing Grandpa Williamson's violin into the scrapbook. The Crewel & Unusual printed and plain papers make a great backdrop for these special moments.

I like the above quote from the Greetings UM. It just seems so appropriate.

Next on the hop is the very creative Deb at Deb Duz Scrappin.
Thank you for hopping along with us.

National Parks Blog Hop

Welcome to my pop-up stop on Club Scrap's National Parks Blog Hop!

Pop-ups are one of my favorite crafting tricks. Club Scrap's heavy-weight papers are ideal for creating these dimensional layouts. Last week I designed a fun 12x12 pop-up scrapbook page with the National Parks Collection. Check it out:

I won't go into too many details since I already shared the technique on my previous blog entry. But I had so much fun with that one, I had to make another while the process was fresh on my mind.

Here is the page closed.

Pop-Up Page Closed

Here I am starting to lift the flap . . . my favorite part . . .

Bam! The page pops to life!

Open at a 90 degree angle

Some of you may wonder how to make something like this work within a scrapbook. Simply cutting the page protector will do the trick. Follow these steps to accommodate your pop-up:

1. Slide a closed pop-up layout into a page protector.

2. Use a permanent marker to draw a line around the entire pop-up area, including the top hinge, left, right and bottom edges.

3. Remove the layout and slide a cutting mat into the protector.

4. Use a grid ruler and craft knife to cut around the outside of the markings, making the opening slightly larger than the pop-up flap.

5. Completely remove the rectangular portion of the page protector.

6. Slide the layout back into the prepared protector, and the pop-up will function freely.

Thank you for popping in!

Next on the hop is the talented and witty Janet Moran at Dishing With Janet. Be sure to check out what she's up to.

Club Scrap Holiday Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop on the Club Scrap Holiday Blog Hop!

I used to think it was fun to be a kid at Christmas, but now I know it's even more fun having a kid at Christmas! The pictures I took of Marilee last year show just that. She was so excited to open her presents and this layout preserves that moment for me.

I used the I'll Be Gnome for Christmas Collection for this 12x12" Christmas Morning page. It features wallet-sized photos and a Christmas tree embellishment made from the Gnome Cutaparts and stamped paper scraps.

Here is a bit about how Santa's Elf put this page together.

1. Hand cut a tree trunk from Dark Green and attach a paper strip to create a base for the tree measuring 10" from the base of the trunk to the top. Run adhesive along the strip.

2. Center the 5.5" "Merry Christmas" cutapart to the bottom of the strip.

3. Center additional strips onto the Green base until it is filled. Alternate with colored papers and portions of the printed cutaparts. Don't worry about the edges aligning perfectly until the next step.

4. Trim the tree at an angle from the outside edge of the "Merry Christmas" cutapart to the top of the Dark Green strip. You may find it helpful to identify the center of the Dark Green strip; trim to 3/4" to the left and right of the center mark.

5. Rotate the tree to place it upside down into the trimmer and repeat alignment process to create the same angle on the other side of the tree.

Bottom corner of the cutapart is on the edge of the blade.
Tree top center line at .75" from blade

6. To finish the tree, matte with Dark Green and attach a hand-cut star.

Thank you for stopping by during your busy holiday season. I hope Santa is good to you!

Have a blessed Christmas.
